Q. Who runs the Union?
The members of the Union vote every three years for leadership positions in Local 2401. There are seven elected positions.
There are four officers: President, Vice-President, Secretary Treasurer, and Recording Secretary.
There are also 3 Executive Board Members, and 3 Trustees.
Q. When is the next Union election?
A. June 2026 all seats will be open. Any member who is in good standing for at least one year is eligible to run for any office.
Q. How much do Union officers get paid?
A. Every position within the Union is voluntary and unpaid. Union representatives at all levels are full-time District Employees.
Q. How do I become a Union Steward?
Becoming a Steward, or representative, you must first tell the Union that you are interested by filling out this form. Next, you will be scheduled for a short interview, where you and Union staff can get to know each other, discuss the details of being a Steward, and gives you a chance to ask any questions you may have. If staff believes you are a good fit for a Local representative, you will be advised as to the next Shop Steward training, which you will have to complete to start being a Steward.
